Born in 1929, Duarte Miguel da Silveira do Canto Tavares, lent his surname to Coudelaria, his passion. This breeding endeavor began after World War II, in the 1940s, always connected to Casa Agrícola. The breeding started at Casa Telhada, a family property located in the parish of Pilar da Bretanha, where the mares of the stud farm grazed and reproduced, undergoing careful selection throughout the years. The property is now owned by one of his sons.

João Gomes de Menezes do Canto Tavares, owner of Lusitano Garden Villas and Casa Agrícola, continues his father’s work in selecting Lusitano horses.

With the new facilities for training and teaching these magnificent Lusitanos, João Gomes de Menezes do Canto Tavares combines this agricultural activity with the tourist activity developed by Lusitano Garden Villas.
